The Company has today been informed that trade investor DC Thomson purchased 11 million UBC ordinary shares of 1p each ( "Ordinary Shares") on 10 August 2005. DC Thomson now has a total interest in 11 million Ordinary Shares, representing approximately 6.4 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.
DC Thomson prints and publishes more than 200 million magazines, newspapers and comics each year, including the Dundee Courier, The Sunday Post, the People’s Friend, My Weekly, Shout magazine and The Beano and The Dandy. DC Thomson has been an active investor in the radio and television sector over many years.
To satisfy this purchase and other institutional demand in the marketplace, the Directors of UBC have, on 10 August 2005, in aggregate, sold 11,787,494 Ordinary Shares at 25p per share.

In addition, Unique Communications Limited have disposed of 5,400,000 Ordinary Shares at a price of 25p each, as a result of which its shareholding in the Company is reduced to 8,448,714 Ordinary Shares representing approximately 4.9 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company. The beneficial owner of the shares registered in the name of Unique Communications Limited is N. E. Edmonds, a director of the Company.
